    Between him and Madison, it’s a close call as to which is the biggest piece of shit. None of the other five even come close.

      I’m trying to remember what made Madison stand out as particularly shitty. He was a slaver, and considered indigenous peoples to be inherently inferior to Europeans. I have a faint memory of him being arrogant and paternalistic in some of the Federalist Papers. What am I forgetting?

        Jefferson and Madison were the most dedicated slavers of the Big 7 - Madison, notably, did not even emancipate any of his slaves in his will. Madison’s decision to drag the US into the War of 1812 was entirely avoidable and based on his own pro-French policies (and the French had not particularly abused the US less in the issue of privateering and blockading). Madison was publicly of the common, paternalistic view towards Native Americans, but privately regarded them as inferior and unsalvageable.
