The first Destiny is still playable? Is it worth picking up? I don’t think I’ve heard a single mention of it since the sequel came out.

I was completely lost in Destiny 2 due to starting after they cut out half the story content. Would playing the first game help at all, or is too much just gone forever now?

AIUI D1 is in a better state than D2 will be even after the June 9th update. If you have a play station and are interested in Destiny it’s probably good to pick up.

D2 still has a lot of good content but the new player experience is rather rough since they removed the original tutorial and only put back in a shorter and less complete one.

I’ve heard the same things, that it’s payable and still with 90% of the content made for it. I bought the “gold edition” years ago when Destiny 2 first released (yes I also bought D2) so I do have access to all the expansions.

I’m gonna have to go dig my disc out of storage.

The first game is playable but it’s only available on consoles, I haven’t played it myself but I heard it’s a good experience.

Sadly it won’t help you understand Destiny 2, as Bungie have completely butchered the game, removing key campaign-related content, entire playable areas (planets) of the game, and overall making the new player experience super confusing and unwelcoming.

The satisfying gunplay is unmatched but you have to consider if it’s enough to get into it

It’s console locked, so you’d need a PS4. I would argue it’s not worth picking up since like destiny 2 it’s built off several paid expansions for the full story that are not preserved (and not discounted)

You’d probably better off checking youtube playthroughs to be honest.
