Slurs are disparaging comments either false or twisting true information to appear negative.
It’s like “mud slinging” in politics, because “slur” is literally an old word for “mud” and “slurring someone” was “throwing mud at them”.
If someone is a bigot, and you call them a bigot…
You’re not throwing mud on them, you’re hosing them down so everyone can see exactly who/what they are.

Arguably “bigot” is already a slur
The only time bigot is a slur, is if the person isn’t actually a bigot. An example would be getting called a bigot or antisemitic for saying Israel is committing genocide. That’s the only time “bigot” would be a slur, if it was a lie.
