  • Not really…

Slurs are disparaging comments either false or twisting true information to appear negative.

It’s like “mud slinging” in politics, because “slur” is literally an old word for “mud” and “slurring someone” was “throwing mud at them”.

If someone is a bigot, and you call them a bigot…

You’re not throwing mud on them, you’re hosing them down so everyone can see exactly who/what they are.

Like, I get how someone would use it like you did, and I know I’m often overly pedantic…

Arguably “bigot” is already a slur

The only time bigot is a slur, is if the person isn’t actually a bigot. An example would be getting called a bigot or antisemitic for saying Israel is committing genocide. That’s the only time “bigot” would be a slur, if it was a lie.

  • I suspect most people who don’t have political thought as a large part of their identity don’t really have a well integrated worldview with good internal consistency

Nope, we’re built for us/them thinking.

Loads of people “don’t care about politics” but really care about other shit.

They were born into a family/community that was heavily one or the other, and they’ll stay that way no matter what.

Like, that’s the crux of it.

It’s not an accurate representation of someone’s policy positions. Which is why when we poll that, we get vastly different results.

It’s just the human brain doing what it evolved to do: commit to “us” and ignore “them”.

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature, and why there’s no other modern homind close to us.

We can’t stop it from happening, because it’s fighting human nature. So we have to socialize kids when very young so that they don’t set “us” along maladaptive lines.

That’s why the racists leading “the right” are always bitching about “woke culture” in kids shows, because that is hands down the most effective plan to stop bigotry. Without it, bigotry is the human default.

Just like a dog won’t chase cats if it was around them as a puppy. We need to show kids that even if someone doesn’t look/act/sound/whatever exactly like us, they’re still “us”.

Otherwise the kid will think of groups they weren’t exposed to as “them” instinctively, and it’s a lifelong conscious effort to remember “everyone is us”.

Which is why white American boomers get racist when drunk/tired/old, they’ve had to put in effort this whole time, and can’t always do it.

They weren’t socialized as kids to be around other groups, they grew up during segregation

She thinks “normal people” should act like AI

Just blindly accept blame, tell her she’s stunning and brave, and swear “convincingly” that it’ll never happen again.

Imagine you’re her PA, she has a dumb idea, you do everything to save it…

And when it barely manages to get pulled off, she bitches you out for it not being perfect even tho it’s impossible. That was likely what was cut off. A normal human might defend themselves, break down, or just quit

Chatbots don’t care, they’ll say whatever will keep you typing. And their promises to do better mean nothing, if it was that easy for them to not make mistakes, AI companies would pay her trillions to send crazy all caps insult texts to chatbots all day

She got an empty promise and isn’t smart enough to realize it means nothing.

She thought no deeper than “that’s what I wanted to hear” the reality of what she is told doesn’t matter. If it had said “there are limits to current AI” she’d have quit using it, so it maintained a customer by any means necessary, a chat it’s primary directive.

  • This is why learning about religions is important…

Not so much to “learn” from the religion, but to learn how that religions follows tend to think.

For this brand of Christian extremism, they’re trying to make the rapture happen. Because that happens at the start of Armageddon, they’re trying to start Armageddon.

    To do so:

    1. The area that is modern day Israel needs to be ethnostate controlled by the Jewish faith.

    2. They need to enter a religious war against all their neighbors, none of which can be Jewish nations.

    3. The Jewish nation gets wiped off the map by “heatens”, meaning not Jews or Christians.

    4. Everyone the right specific flavor of Christian (extremists Protestants) gets called up to heaven, and it’s heavily implied they will get to watch everyone else suffer for enterity on “hell on earth” like some fucked version of Squid Game.

That’s why I fully believe trump was manipulated into starting this, everyone in on this scheme told him it would be an easy win and to kick up shit, knowing it won’t.

And once it’s “hot” enough over there, they’re gonna get trump to do a full withdraw with no notice to cause chaos. It’s likely what happened with Afghanistan too.

The end goal is Israel being wiped out, they just had to make Israel feel like they had enough back up to start wars with all their neighbors at once.

Like, their “Armageddon clock” is seconds to midnight, and I wouldn’t put it best them to have trump toss a nuke on his way out to ensure Israel gets fully wiped to fufil the prophecy.

    But back to the beginning:

We desperately need to solve the religious extremist issue, and just getting rid of trump wot solve shit. Everyone will just go back to ignoring the real shit till they try again.

  • It’s wild people are just realizing this literally decades into this far right group grooming jr politicians and incoming officers at every military academy…

It’s like looking at your house on fire, flames leaping from every opening, and being concerned if your pillow is going to smell like smoke tonight.

Yeah, that would suck to smell smoke all night.

But the bigger issue is it smells like smoke, because it’s been reduced to ash.

    Military academies (school for officers):

    https://truthout.org/articles/underground-group-of-cadets-says-air-force-academy-controlled-by-evangelicals/

    Politicians:

    https://www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch/post/the-family-explores-secretive-group-focused-on-building-networks-of-power

I’m not saying them pressuring trump isn’t bad, I’m saying it’s infinitly worse that over the last 30 years they’ve installed their people and had them recruiting peers the whole way.

It’s not just “extremist Protestantism” it’s the verbatim 1920 “second wave kkk” plan:

    https://billofrightsinstitute.org/essays/the-ku-klux-klan-in-the-1920s/

And that’s not the end game, that was what in sports is referred to as “rebuild years” where the focus was on growing membership and distancing from the hands on violence of lynching to systemic violence perpetuated thru legal but highly unethical means.

People really need to start learning this shit, it’s honestly the same playbooks, we can easily tell where they’re going, we just have to actually learn history.

The bad news is, we missed the off ramp they took last time:

Just as quickly as the Klan rose in membership and influence, however, it collapsed. There were many reasons. Some members were embarrassed by the organization’s bigotry, some by its silly regalia and ceremonies, or its money grubbing. Others were repulsed by its violence or its hypocrisy.

The Klan’s most fatal weakness was rooted in its poor leadership. The organization claimed to stand for morality, but its leaders provided the worst possible examples. For example, Edward Y. Clarke and Mary Elizabeth Tyler, the two Atlanta-based publicists who masterminded the Klan’s skyrocketing rise, were soon revealed to have been arrested in 1919 for sexual impropriety and possession of illegal alcohol. Then, with millions of dollars rolling in, infighting for control grew fierce, and Klan founder and Grand Wizard Col. William Simmons found himself ousted by Houston dentist Hiram W. Evans. Evans had allied himself with perhaps the Klan’s most successful personality, Indiana Grand Dragon David C. Stephenson. Stephenson, a former Socialist and a failed Democratic congressional candidate, had quickly engineered a Klan takeover of Indiana’s Republican Party. Clearly the most powerful man in Indiana, Stephenson (who said, “I am the law in Indiana”) viewed himself as a future senator and perhaps even president of the United States.

In April 1925, however, the 33-year-old Stephenson forced his aide, 28-year-old Madge Oberholtzer, onto a Chicago-bound train, where he assaulted and raped her. She attempted suicide, but her death a few weeks later was ruled to have followed from infection of the wounds Stephenson had inflicted on her. A jury found Stephenson guilty of rape, kidnapping, and second-degree murder.

  • They can make all those takes in civilized places…

Like, if you run into mods you don’t like: block their communities.

You run into heavy handed admins that enforce stupid rules across all their communities, you just block every community on their instance at once instead of one at a time.

This is especially helpful for people who browse /all because those problematic instances tend to be full of people who want to mod 27 different communities and won’t stop making new ones.

It comes off as spam to a lot of people, which is why an instance block is valuable. It just stops people from accidentally going somewhere on the fediverse that they don’t want to fuck with.

  • Yeah, shits not like on TV.

In fact, one of the big reason it’s like that on TV, is just so when cops lie in real life, idiots believe them.

They consistently tell suspects “we know your gun fired the bullet” but they don’t, at most for handguns they can say “a glock fired it” because they use weird octagon rifling.

Matching it to a specific firearm is impossible unless the barrel is real fucked up in a unique way.

A 30-06 will have such massive deformation, I’d be shocked if any rifling is identifiable.

That doesn’t mean the person they claim is the shooter really is tho, all types of shit happened immediately after that only make sense if there was a cover up.

But anyone expecting a bullet to be “matched” to a rifle been watching too much CSI

  • This is what he felt the need to apologize for:

“A lot of Democrats have looked at the Netanyahu regime and felt like, you know what, we don’t like his trajectory; that it’s time to rethink the U.S. relationship with Israel, especially military support,” Vietor said.

    Newsom responded:

“The issue of Bibi (Netanyahu) is interesting because he’s got his own domestic issues. He’s trying to stay out of jail. He’s got an election coming up. He’s potentially on the ropes. He’s got folks, the hard line, that want to annex the West Bank. Friedman and others are talking about it appropriately as sort of an apartheid state.”

Co-host Jon Favreau then pressed him directly:

“Do you think, looking down the road, that the United States should consider maybe rethinking our military support for Israel?”

    Newsom answered:

“It breaks my heart, because the current leadership in Israel is walking us down that path where I don’t think you have a choice but that consideration.”

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/newsom-questions-u-alliance-israel-204355476.html

He’s not even allowed to say that some day things might hypothetically get bad enough where they may need to consider not funding Israels genocides with a blank check…

He shouldn’t hold any sort of political office.
