Explanation From Original OP:
context behind this painting: Jahangir fought a long campaign to conquer Ahmednagar, but could not achieve this goal due to fierce resistance from Ambar’s forces, now during 1616-1618 he commissioned a series of paintings out of which this one was made where jahangir is seen shooting the decapitated head of malik ambar
Nonetheless, mughals failed to capture ahmednagar sultanate until 1633, at which point malik ambar and jahangir both were long gone
the painting in question

spent the whole time on the fish and had to sketch the feet in on the due date.
I’m guessing the unconventional shooting platform has some kind of symbolism that’s completely lost on me?
Or maybe Jahangir is a bad shot, and only had a globe, a calf and an enormous fucking fish to get closer with. /s
Ahh. So just standard “domination over the world” imagery.
This makes no sense, there isn’t even a turtle, this doesn’t work at all.
dumbass shouldn’t have mounted the head so high.
History has always been people with silly hats killing other people with different silly hats.
over things that don’t even actually exist, like honor and religion.
I think Kathy Griffin got canceled for this
