Way back in the aughts with the rise of smarphones I was hoping for a modular thing a bit like framework but like a phone that would dock into a laptop body that had more storage and external video card that you could dock into a full kb/mouse/screens setup. I feel we are close but need a real linux phone or mini tablet. honestly kinda hoping for AR to make most of that even unnecessary. then it can just be portable and docked extra power like a type 1 and 2 phaser.
Motorola made it, why didn’t you buy it?
Never even heard of that. I can’t tell if it would be useful or not.
The only use case I could imagine, for me, was maybe at Uni when I owned a small laptop and a phone. If the webtop was cheaper and weighed less than my asus.
It’s pretty obvious that it wasn’t useful to most people. They had a few dock able things I recall.
The problem with the OP is that people don’t really need a laptop. When they do, it needs to be better than the phone.
the period from 2010 to 2012 was kinda a tough period for me and also I don’t really want any android. I want something I can install any flavor of linux I want on it. I don’t really want a phone but I would not mind cellular for internet access.
Is that Star Rupture you are playing? Really cool game, except it’s rather incomplete at the moment. I haven’t checked out the new update tho, they added a lot. Only worry I have is if they forget to put actual gameplay in their game.
I’ve seen early access titles like Star Rupture have so much potential early on, only for it to never materialize into a fun game. Especially when a small group of dedicated fans is really engaging with the dev. That might sound like a good thing, but is often a trap. The dev and the community spiral together into a rabbit hole, leaving a game that’s only fun for that select group with hundreds of hours already in the game. New people are often left overwhelmed, with too many systems and details to figure out and not engaging enough gameplay. This means the sales figures are often poor once a game releases, if it isn’t stuck in early access forever. It’s very hard to strike a good balance between listening to a small group of loyal fans and still maintain an overview and unbiased look on the project.
I really hope Star Rupture becomes a full game and a big hit, it’s super cool.
5/8.
Minus three for beard dandruff and mouse-to-hand dead skin transfer , and a two point penalty for deploying your rig on an unsafe surface.
