    It just rings a bell, but that’s about it. But I remember the early copy protections…like these paper wheels to scroll through symbols to enter a code before playing.

        Oh yes lol, and those. But they had to up their protection when we just included the scanned manual 😁

          my favorites were: at the beginning of the game:

          **Please do not pirate this. We worked hard and could use some money"

          or something like that. The shareware version of Doom got me hooked on FPSes for a good decade though.

            Oh yes. It even worked. I felt bad if I didn’t pay. But also it wasn’t that easy. For me, back then, only one big shop had games for those rare computers. And it was a 1hr drive with my bike…

            Oh yes…I still know the maps and cheatcodes by memory. I was there Gandalf, 3000 years ago!
