The IRGC said the “LN” tail code on the wreckage identified the aircraft as belonging to the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath in Britain, home to the 493rd Fighter Squadron.

Some analysts suggested the debris could instead belong to an F-15E Strike Eagle, as the red coloring visible on the wreckage aligns with markings on F-15s from the same squadron.

Looks like one was confirmed to be an A-10 Warthog? No wonder they were trying to stop funding for those for like… Forever…

No it’s a f-15. The A10 was downed during the rescue mission for the f15. The livery is from a flight squadron that is based in the UK which doesn’t have any A10.

Yeah I did not imply, or mean to imply it was this example specifically, I was discussing A-10 program as it has been attempted to be shut down numerous times, I thought fellow aircraft enthusiasts would be interested.

Yeah I’m just talking about the plane, I did not imply or mean to imply it was the same thing. “One” not “this one”.

Congress has tried to shutdown the A-10 program multiple times due to the fact that it would not fair well in peer, let alone near peer contested airspace, was trying to discuss with fellow airplane enthusiasts since both these planes were taken down by Iran, or mechanical failures.
