China’s SPR is the largest in the world, by a lot, but it’s also the world 2nd largest consumer of oil and it imports almost 70% of what it uses.

The US SPR is about 1/3rd the size of China’s but it is also a net exporter with a surplus of around 2.4 Mbbl/s per day.

It’s generally accepted that China has a large enough SPR to cover about 120 days. The US is essentially limitless since, at least on paper, it produces more than it needs.

I viewed some analysis over the weekend proposing that China would run into petroleum problems in mid-June if something doesn’t change with the Iran situation.

Was it though? A lot of WWII German equipment and practices have developed a myth of quality that isn’t remotely true. You hear a lot about how great Panzer tanks were but rarely do you hear that their transmissions tended to last 200 miles or less. Meanwhile the stupid Sherman had cross cut gears so it was way quieter and lasted way longer.

We also tend to ignore that German logistics were absolutely bonkers. While American’s were unloading pallets with forklifts and putting them on trucks Germans were unloading loose bags / boxes by hand and putting them on pack animals (because they didn’t have trucks). Even worse the same dudes unloading the cargo were often combat units!

I lean hard on letting them have the freedom to make choices but sometimes I think I’ve made a mistake.

From one parent to another I honestly believe that that you are doing parenting correctly! You can’t raise children to be responsible and mature adults if they aren’t free to make decisions until after they leave the home. We give them space and training commensurate with their age and ability while they are still kids so that we can teach them and pick them up when they fall.

My Son will graduate from College this May, was recruited to a company a year ago, and will start work in June. You will not be hired for his kind of work without a Degree either, at least not in the United States. The jobs are out there and many of the better ones require the Accreditation.

Zero, there’s plenty of software out that there allows you to write once and post everywhere. This isn’t about declining engagement either since they are still reaching literally MILLIONS of people every year.
