This happens to me semi-regularly (I think it’s due to anxiety about struggling to wake/stay awake because I have narcolepsy) and it is awful.

There are tons of NIMBYs who would consider themselves to be liberal or even progressive. Many would argue that they’re not NIMBYs because their concerns are (to them) reasonable.

I’m thinking of where housing and services for the homeless and low income families get built, for example.

I don’t think it comes down to sheer numbers; I think it’s about deliberately causing suffering and reveling in it. So, maybe the BTK killer or another serial killer who liked to torture their victims.

University administrators have also begun using academic performance as leverage in the recruitment campaign: students who are struggling academically are threatened with expulsion if they refuse to sign a special one-year contract with the military. If they do sign, however, they can have their academic debt written off and receive a custom learning plan upon return from the front.
