  • If you don’t have any savings it will be harder but you and your wife may want to try Ireland or the UK for English language jobs, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia work as well but the cost of living may go up a bit at first. If you are in the US Canada would probably be the easiest and cheapest to move to. If you are able to sit through the ESL equivalent for the respective country’s language the whole world is your oyster, just see which countries have more open immigration policies and fewer human/civil rights violations that has low unemployment that you are interested in moving to for work, south Korea has a program for people to teach English and while that may not be a long term thing you don’t need to speak any Korean when you get there from what I remember.

  • So this just in Tech bro billionaire CEO is just like the others, be it Elon Musk or Steve Jobs they are posers who managed to put out a very persuasive mask of competence and knowledge but in the end they think they know a lot more than they do and are some of the worst people causing long term damage to society. Altman with his backtracking on open source and working for the public good for private gains, Elon Musk with everything he’s ever done, or Steve jobs being directly responsible for the lack or repairability of our own electronics or being able to install what you want on your own smartphone without going through Apple’s walled garden, Bill Gates making it almost impossible for competitors to rise through the 90’s and only now is Linux starting to see a rise in its userbase due to Microsoft’s own stupidity, tech bro CEOs have been the worst.

  • All religion when put in power in a nation does it, you think the IRGC or Israel with the Orthodox Jewish stranglehold on their respective politics in their cou tries are better than the Christian Nationalists in the US? Hell even India has a pretty shitty history with Hindu nationalists starting out with Mahatma Ghandi and his religious zeal leading directly to the bloody conflict and genocides between Pakistan and India when they just got their independence from the British. Religion is and has always been the great divider, and the few times someone with religious convictions tries to use that force for unity with other groups it is coopted and perverted in less than a generation.

  • I am going to admit I enjoyed the series a lot 20 years ago, can’t say I’ve read ger stuff since the series ended and haven’t done anything to support her since the whole TERF thing came out and she started showing what sort of person she was. I recently picked up my old books to see if they held up and by god is it filled with bigoted stereotypes, Cho Chang (two last names) for the Chinese girl, Goblins being the obvious stereotype/alehory of Jews from a European who was “open minded” about Jews pre ww2 but still wanted to make sure that they deserved some of the bad shit that happened to them because they’re vicious even if unfair wizard laws were passed, the black auror being called Shackelbolt, the wezeleys being very much catholics for being poor with too many kids, the french being snobbish bafoons but classy, the Centaurs being either polytheists or gypsies, the list just goes on and Harry being the hero just gets rid of the head Nazi while leaving the institutions and culture in place, doesn’t even think about the slavery aspect except for Dobby, and he and Ron make fun of Hermione for her pushing for their freedom. I guess the reason why people enjoy the series is because the world feels somewhat real and magical because she put her imagination and bigotry into the story and never thought of trying to have the protagonists actually solve a major issue and will let it fester.

  • How often is the moon completely invisible in our night sky? We reflect to the moon the same way the moon reflects light to earth, but that is the visible side, on the other side you have all the stars, gravitational lensing, other planets reflecting to that side of the moon, and even the small amount of luminescence all matter emits. But for easily visible on the dark side I’m pretty sure if there isn’t a small amount of the “dark side of the moon” lit up by the sun that it will appear like a lunar eclipse on earth minus the effect of our atmosphere, or it might be more of a solar eclipse situation and it would just be black with a very bright halo or outline.
