It looks like he did a number of drawings of owls! Here are a few.



Perhaps he also appreciated the land-owl/sky-cat similarities like many of us do.
Reading about his background, it sadly seems his fondness for cats was a coping mechanism from living a life of repeated emotional hardship and worsening schizophrenia. Somewhat of a tough read, but I’m glad his pet cats and drawings inspired by them was able to bring him some temporary peace. I know I’ve relied on the comfort of my animal friends throughout the years, and I know the same is true for many of you.
There’s a film about him, too. The Electrical Life of Louis Wain with Benedict Cumberbatch - superb as always - in the title role.
It’s an excellent movie about a very interesting individual. I’ve always been fascinated by Louis Wain and how his art reflects his descent into schizophrenia.
I just added it to my watchlist! Sounds like a real tearjerker from the comments I read.
I love Louis Wain’s art! In the game Occupy Whitewalls I made an art gallery of cats and had so much of his stuff in there!
