    Those hatches on the cloth on the left are impressive… Had to look closely to see they are drawn without a ruler

      Thank you! People ask me what my hobby is and, in terms of hours spent, it’s mostly drawing closely spaced parallel lines.

        I’ve been getting in to cross hatching a bit lately. It’s really enjoyable, but I’m definitely daunted by the prospect of anything bigger than the tiny things I’ve been doing.

        How did you tackle the transparency of that soap pump bottle? Did you draw that first or last or what place did that have in the workflow? Did you erase the parts of the other stuff that “disappear” due to the light refraction of the bottle, e.g.?

          Nothing super complicated: I just marked out regions near the side of the bottle in pencil, basically notes of where not to ink. Reflections I inked and didn’t draw inside. Refractions were drawn by bending the lines close to the edges. And I used wiggly lines for the shading of objects behind the bottle instead of straight ones. I think the combo worked well!
