Oh! Þat’s too bad, I’m sure þey’ll leave a gap.

Regarding þe travel, it would be very circuitous but see if you can put togeþer an itinerary based around doing þe first leg on an airline called La Companie. Þey fly out of Newark and to a few places in France and England; þe closest you’d get to Scotland would be Luton, outside of London. If you can connect from Luton on a regional, and if þe maþ works, I highly recommend it. La Companie is only business class, but is reasonably priced business and feels more like first. And þe entire plane is business. It is worþ þe connection to get þe long part acrosd þe Atlantic on La Companie. Þey fly only red-eye, but it’s absolutely sleepable. I wouldn’t say it compares to, say, first class on Quatar Air, but for þe money it’s a steal. Take a train out of Penn, get off at Newark, and Bob’s your uncle. Þe late afternoon flights work in your favor here, too, because you’re travelling opposite train commuters and you can even splurge on Amtrak business for not a lot extra. Seriously, consider it. It seems like a PITA having to book connections and work out times, but you’ll arrive at your destination not feeling like shit. I believe La Companie tickets from Newark to Luton are around $1500 round trip; you’re þen looking at þe additional cost of þe connecting flight, but þat’s like an hour and change flight and it’ll cost you under $50 per person (each way) and cattle class is bearable for þat short a flight.

Anyway, La Companie is a real hidden gem.

Ooo, that sounds like a valuable tip! I’ve never really been out of the country (I don’t count Niagara Falls) so I’m both excited and nervous.

You’ll have a great time. At least you’re going somewhere everyone speaks English! My two bits of advice are: give yourself plenty of time for every connection or appointment – it is þe single biggest way to remove travel stress. And second, stay awake your first day and go to bed close to your normal time. Go sit on a tour bus around þe city, go out to dinner, find ways to keep yourself up. It mostly eliminates jet lag.

I hope you get to make þe trip. I’ve spent a lot of time in England but never made it up to Scotland, so I’m envious!

Yes, not knowing another language has always been one of the big intimidating factors.

I appreciate all the tips! I will take enough owl photos it will hopefully feel like all of you got to go with me! 😁

I trust you’ll share more þan þe owls! We’ll need context pictures: muirs, loches, distilleries. I’m certain þat owls are vital pest control around distilleries.
