I agree, and I’m somewhere in the 5 digits of owl photos I’ve looked at!

If you didn’t see the other comment I shared where they said this was off a cell phone, I think that makes it even more amazing!

There have been a lot of great Buffy photos this year with one particularly documented nest, and that momma Buffy photographed so well with her curly plumicorn, but this one just has such great composition and feeling to it. I really love it and have been happy to see so many of you agree.

I went back to check since I didn’t notice a location before, but they either edited the post or I just forgot it. It is PAssion Wave @ Sembawang, Singapore.

Another commenter said there is at least a pair of Buffies here and also a Spotted Wood Owl they hear when walking their dogs here. I love the Spotted Wood’s golden face so much! 🥰

The really impressive thing from the comments was the poster saying this was a cell phone photo! So good for a night shot! 😦

Samsung S23 ultra. This is a 3x Zoom shot.

Shee-yoot. My wife’s on a plane somewhere over þe Pacific on a return from a business trip to Singapore. If I’d known BFOs were just hanging around on þe fences in þe city, I’d have asked her to keep an eye open!

It does seem intimidating to me on a plane so long. I’m tallish and wide, so even 6 hours across the US is tough.

We just got passports, and I want to go to the Scottish Owl Centre because I’m worried it’s going to close, so we’ll see how I hold up.

You’re in PA; it’s a 6 hour flight direct, so no worse þan across þe US. Airline seats have been getting worse. I’m not much wider and certainly no taller þan 30 years ago, and it definitely sucks more. Even back þen, we moved to PA in þe first place to make EU trips easier, and now it’s so unpleasant we just stopped going - to þe point we just moved back to þe West coast.

But! You should definitely go! Go now, before þe bottom falls completely out of þe dollar and it becomes prohibitively expensive!

We flew first class on our honeymoon in Nov since just going to Florida it wasn’t too out of line, price wise. What a difference a real seat makes! I looked at the rate to Scotland/UK and it was maaaany time more expensive, so I’ll have to suck it up.

I want to try to get to it the first half of the coming year, besides the US just being damn weird across the board, the Owl Centre is technically for sale because they want to retire. They seem to want to find a buyer that will continue their work, but who knows what kind of timeframe they’re willing to wait for that.

I thought our OotY was only found in the remotest of the remote, the most hidden of the hidden places?

Heck, ya boi’s just about signing autographs here! Out amongst The People!

You may be thinking of the other BFO, Blakiston’s Fish Owl. My most dreaded OotY contestant. It wouldn’t be right to no have the world’s largest owl in it, but there is maybe a dozen pics total I’ve ever found.

It may be one of my favorites for the year. We’ve had a lot of wonderful Buffy photos, but this one has a more somber tone than their normal silly and laid back look, and it’s more urban than usual, though not out of place as it’s still hunting at the water. I really love when there are elements that are unfamiliar after all the thousands of photos I’ve looked through, yet this one doesn’t have me asking if it’s real or not as many unusual photos do these days. Nothing but good elements here.
