Hey guys, I’m starting to believe that the people Trump puts in those important positions aren’t selected for their competence.

He makes his choices based on his desire to be the smartest person in the room.

One of the complaints he had from his first term was that he was prevented from doing things because he was surrounded by “people who think they’re smarter than me”…

His lawyers, for all their failings, have managed to keep him out of prison so far. (Having a few judges in his pocket doesn’t hurt.)

Well…He was convicted on 34 criminal counts. He didn’t go to prison only because of a feckless judge who was too scared of his responsibility to give a meaningful sentence and didn’t punish him at all.

Tbf the us citizens at large kept him out of prison via the vote. I mean he probably wouldn’t have gone to prison because he’s rich and connected to all the people he pretends to hate and pretend to hate him but the voters at least put the nail in the coffin on the idea.

Yeah, his lawyers don’t have that great a track record; Giuliani was his lawyer for a while. He probably gets lucky occasionally, but I really think he’s too stupid to know the difference between a competent an incompetent person in any field.

I’m pretty sure for press secretary he just thinks them being attractive by his standards is the definition of competent. Beyond that he mostly values loyalty from what I can tell.

Just blind luck, like most of his successes. And also collusion with conservative justices and judges and prosecutors.

These days he probably just points to furniture and says, “you’re hired!” And “you’re fired!” And his people just hire whoever looks most like the last person because he gets upset when his reality’s continuity is broken.

By September 2025, Zacharia had worked as legal advisor for Fix California, a political organization; had served on the board of advisors at White Rose Resistance, an antiabortion advocacy group; and was a member of the Pepperdine University School of Law’s dean council. She had additionally served as director of development for special projects at Pepperdine University.

Pepperdine University is a private research university affiliated with the Churches of Christ

    :-|

Zacharia became deputy assistant secretary of homeland security for public affairs in February 2026. She announced her resignation the following month. According to CNN, Zacharia, who lived in California, told an associate that commuting to the Department of Homeland Security’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., was not sustainable. In June, Zacharia became a communications advisor to the Trump Media and Technology Group.

    Classic case of failing upwards.

White House press secretary Katie Zacharia’s debut was so poor it made Karoline Leavitt look like Cicero.

The newly appointed press secretary spoke slowly and awkwardly during her debut press conference Tuesday, as if she had never seen or uttered the words in front of her prior to taking the podium. Her cadence was clunky, closer to that of a fourth grader reading school announcements over an intercom than a polished political communications professional. It’s clear she was never meant to be more than another blonde conservative placeholder on Fox News. The SNL spoof feels imminent.
