Wendy’s has gone full Wendy’s, releasing a 15-hour RPG based on the fast-food chain’s branding.

From the article,

WendyQuest was developed in collaboration with 81monkeys, a Canadian-based company, based on the 2D style of turn-based JRPG classics like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. As more and more games launch with full AI use disclosures, the WendyQuest Steam listing proudly proclaims the game as “100% fresh and 100% human made.”

(The previous one was the pen-and-paper RPG Feast of Legends. I wonder if they take place in the same Wendy’s cinematic universe?)

Edit: they put a reference in as an easter egg, LOL:

15 hours of player to get 5 chances at one free item.

If you are going to play the game anyway, it might get you to a store, but you’re not gonna feed your family meat/potato/milk farming the Wendy’s game.

        Not with that attitude.

But once you turn the botfarm loose on it…

The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes.

As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we’re looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily basis, and we’ll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.

We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.

Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.

I think these are the rewards for beating each boss. Definitely better deals straight in the app, but it’s still kind of cool they went through with all this effort. A little weird as well considering they have been losing money for years now. Maybe invest that money into providing the “better” quality food they used to instead of cutting corners and removing items that were great and now gone.

I mean. I am all for good drive through.

But if the premise is to get you hooked on junk food by gamifying it… that’s kinda icky.
