At the very least they’re valuing the soldiers’ lives enough to spend so much on saving them. To be honest I completely expected the US forces to just forget about anyone lost on Iranian territory.

You think the guy who says WW2 soldiers who died are losers and suckers cares about a life?

He cares about the bad publicity. He “won the war in an hour”, and 5 weeks later is out losing jets and pilots?

It would look bad for him not to rescue, cause you goddamn know Iran would have made that an absolutely endless attack against him in the news if they caught the pilot first, put the pilot where their command was and dared Trump to bomb his own troops, which I fully believe he would do.

Lots of medicine comes from India who use petrochemicals from the Middle East.

Medicine is going to get expensive.

Iran is now claiming the rescue was unsuccessful.

Given how trustworthy the two sides are, I won’t believe where the guy is until he comes out and reveals himself.

        Ah! Excellent question.

It is estimated that there are 92 million people living in Iran. The price of a human, ignoring the human’s net worth, has a lower bound of 1 million USD (based off the heart alone).

With some simple math, it can be deduced that Iran currently holds at least 92 trillion dollars of human wealth.

Since Iran is considered to be an enemy of the US, that 92 trillion is subtracted off of the US GDP (~30.5 trillion USD), which puts the US in the red.

Therefore, Trump must reduce Iran’s stockpiles of human wealth to get the US GDP to at least break even.

I am sure you understand, now that I put this in this very logical way.

        /s if there’s any confusion

Are you aware how many people could be saved with 2 billions worth of social programs and healthcare?

Doesn’t change the fact that 2 billion could save a lot of people if the money was allocated for that instead of war.

Yeah, I get it. After Afghanistan, I heard we spent $7 trillion, and got literally no outcome. Everything was essentially the same as when we started, 20 years before. Think of what we could have done with $7 trillion over 20 years…

Yes, it’s so sad how USA has lost obvious opportunities to improve the lives of their population, actually not much different from Russia. The money was there, they were just spend on making the rich richer and to build an expensive military.

Not specifically but I know it’s a lot. Doesn’t reduce our obligation to rescue the people our country puts in harm’s way (for good reasons or bad).

How many Americans could be fed or housed for $2 billion? You could save a lot more lives that way.

$2 billion isn’t how much it costs to bring them back; it’s how much it costs to bring them back without making any concessions to Iran. There was always the option where they’re brought back through negotiations with Iran, which would’ve cost far less than $2 billion.

Of course. Nobody is contesting that.

None of this was necessary to begin with- that’s why the costs are being discussed.
