Given how they lean into it and how they act in this thread and others calling him out, they’re doing it on purpose. To piss people off. As in they are a full on troll and need to be banished back under their bridge, across all instances that give a shit.
That’s why I made this shitty comic. People need to not block, but heavily down vote this behavior. I will die on this hill. I’m not going to look, but it is at least hundreds of posts that this fuck makes with the intent of hurting artists.
The whole “don’t feed the troll” thing needs to be inversely applied here. Downvote all of it. Period. For every post that this idiot troll makes, there is at least 1 person that doesn’t see or care what’s going on and they’ll download the image without attribution, share it, and the problem continues.
Negative attention is still attention. You need to deprive the troll of what they want. What they want is attention. Deprive them of it by ignoring them entirely.

Blocking them isn’t enough, because the harm they do with the plagiarism goes beyond stinking up your personal feed. This kind of stuff proliferates. People save the image to post somewhere else, and so on. Annoyingly, plagiarism doesn’t seem to be against the rules in this comminity, but I really think it should be.

On the lemmy.world support community yes. No fresh news yet, some gave applied to moderate last week but admin still trying to contact lawrence first.
beep also has a lemmy.world account and a fedinsfw.app account. I can’t think of anything lower than trolling porn communities but he finds a way.

The issue was laid out in the comic I made. These images will be shared without credit; there is no way around that. By deliberately removing credit, it will remove the credit/attribution potentially many thousands of times in the long run.

Another solution is to filter author field by name(client or URL) .

Edit: I believe actually that RSS feed parameters are only supported by handful of CMS only.

Quite frankly, I don’t care why I did it. I block people to preserve my mental health, whenever I notice that seeing someone’s replies is getting on my nerves. This is about respect, and people can respectfully disagree and I won’t block them, but there’s no reason anyone should have to put up with disrespectful users. I also blocked that one user that censored every swear word in shitposts. Fuck that person too. They both shouldn’t modify people’s works without permission.

There are a lot of people on lemmy I disagree with, and have not blocked. I believe his opinions aren’t just wrong, but immoral. I will not continue to engage with people I find immoral. Will engage with people that don’t agree to me that aren’t immoral. My reply was descriptive, not prescriptive. No one should, or probably would, do something because I say so, just reminding folks it’s an option.
It also leads to bad actors continually being upvoted.

In general, I agree. But in this case, my opinion (and I am open to suggestions here) is that it needs to be called to attention because the sole mod is Inactive. This troll’s actions cause passive harm to artists.
It isn’t just being a troll in comments. For that? Sure, whatever. But when it can cause actual harm to artists? I take issue there.
I get that “harm” here is kind of subjective. Artists make pennies on click (at most, and that’s if they are relatively successful).
Making the comics less discoverable is more than a slight, imo.
I absolutely agree with you in principle. But I think the topic got enough attention in the last days. What now has to follow is a new moderation for the community. As the lemmy.world admins want to have a couple of days time, they should be the ones banning the troll immediately. If they don’t, the problem is the lemmy.world admins.
